Great Workbook for High School students Excellent workbook for High School students.Great supplement to the College Board SAT book! I’m a private SAT/ACT tutor in Atlanta. I’ve been tutoring for over 20 years. Since the SAT changed format in 2016, the greatest challenge for tutors and students is the scarcity of quality SAT practice materials. The College Board puts out a book of eight tests. Once those tests are used up, you’re stuck practicing with inauthentic test questions.In order to get the greatest value from the eight actual tests, you need to find a good practice book: a book that doesn’t mimic the actual tests so closely as to render them inaccurate predictors, a book that simulates the level of difficulty that you’ll find in the real tests, a book that gives in-depth explanations for correct and incorrect answers, and a book that covers the full range of topics that could be tested on test day. This book accomplishes all four.I was turned on to the Marks Education book by a colleague, and I love it. I’ll be using it as a primary teaching tool moving forward.I like this book! It's not that I pride myself on being a tutor, but it's that I like the concept of the questions and the well-organized presentation of the chapters in this book. Honestly, I'd also by anything that Richard Corn endorses.I like that the math questions are somewhat simpler than those in the official SAT guide, allowing the user to recognize skills they may have learned from the more targeted subject-based prep books like the Panda math series, in particular. For math, with this concept, the student can readily identify the skill, easily compute the answer, and then move on more quickly to more skills. It's quite ingenious to cover every skill necessary, but not create a highly complicated problem--just one that covers the technical steps needed to solve the problem. Also, I really like that answer keys are in a chapter by themselves and the chapter includes the score conversion chart! A score conversion chart is priceless and so hard to find in most books. The answer explanations of math also include the math category of learning and pretty straight forward explanations, as well.Unfortunately, I did not do an extensive review of the grammar and reading sections, but with a cursory review they seem to follow a similar philosophy: they are obviously targeting the skill with an adequately aimed question that you must know the skill for in order to answer correctly. Well done!I would thoroughly recommend this book for a summer prep course where you want clear examples of the SAT question types. It will allow students to possess an effective book that most others will not have possession of, and they can still order the official SAT Guide (with 8 additional tests) later for more practice.
